I need one urgent help

My requirement is as below

1. whenever an issue gets created I need to have a default set of format in the description field example

it's not possible to add default value for System Field Description.

Alternatively, you can do the below to fulfill your needs.

Create a new custom field (Paragraph) with the same name "Description"
Add a default value for the newly created custom field
Remove the system field Description from your screens Create/Edit/View
Add the newly created custom fields to the screens Create/Edit/View

Also , how to avoid missing out on those details that are already in the existing description field. How to handle them ? They will get lost or hidden , please suggest .How can I manage it only for newly created ones

You can use our app, Issue Templates Agent for Jira, to achieve your goal. You can define as many templates as you need for projects and issue types. Then, when your user opens a Create issue dialog, all fields will be automatically filled (if you set a template as default for this issue type), or he can select a needed template from the Template select custom field. It's so easy to configure and use.

Using this app, you don't have to change your Jira configuration.

for the existing tickets, you can simply create an automation rule with a scheduled JQL trigger to copy the value of the system field description to the new custom field description (check illustration below)

project = yourprojectkey and "Description[Paragraph]" is empty
