Body of the task & comments sent to an email in thread to whom created the task + CC

Guys, need your help with setting up SD.

Have a client, who is creating tasks via email. They would like to receive an automated email notifications when the task is created and while somebody commenting it.

The creator of the task and CC would like to see all the history in the email with each new comment.

I've put an automation rule that when the task is commented the CC to a specific email is sent but only new comments, no history.

So please adv how I can set it up these features:

- when task is created email notification will be sent to the creator and CC with the body of the task

- with each new comment email notification will be sent to the creator and CC with the body of the task + new comment. (basically, with the history of the task)

Appreciate ur advices here.

Hi @DimaV , there is actually an open ticket that is being worked on to provide this feature. Until such time this is introduced you'll have to look to an add-on solution. Basically you need a different email handler to achieve this, e.g. Email This Issue.

So there are two options - jira-service-management-emailhandler in the Marketplace. I used Email This Issue previously and was generally happy with it. It is quite powerful, but there is a level of complexity that I would not really wish on anyone. I suspect that JEMH is similar in complexity. The reason for this is that a powerful email handler is complex but it's very nature and trying to make a complex solution simple is challenging. Regardless of the solution, what you will find is that they provide a great deal of capability well beyond your simple need of comment history. All that means is that you'll get a lot and only use a little. At least initially that will be true. Overtime you may find that you can make use of the other capabilities.
