Can I set Jira to create a new Epic automatically when a an Idea Status changes in Product Discovery

After completing an ideas' impact assessment in a Discovery Project, the Idea Status is set to (Ready for Delivery).

Can I define an automation rule for Jira to automatically create an Epic in a Software Project when that kind of status change happens? 

The newly created Epic should ideally have the same name as the original idea, at least for when it's auto-created.

This automation creates a new Epic in a Software Development project based on a transition into a specific status of an Idea in a Discovery Project.

Note: this automation is created in the Discovery Project.

 

Step configuration

1. When value changes for Status
   • Fields to monitor for changes: Status
   • Change type: any
   • For: Transition issue
2. Status equals
   • Field: Status
   • Condition: equals
   • Value: <desired value from list>
3. Then: Create variable
   • Variable name: <choose your variable name>
   • Smart value: {{summary}}
4. And: Create a new
   • Project: <your software project>
   • Issue type: Epic
   • Summary {{your chosen variable name from step 3}}
