How can I pull the date of when a ticket was moved to a specific status?

Hi.

I would like to pull data for all of the JIRA tickets that were completed within the last year. I am able to write a JQL query that provides me with a list of tickets that have certain statuses, but that is not enough. I need to know THE DATE that the tickets were moved to a specific status - "In Production" for example.

I need to do this en masse. I understand I can do this one by one, but I need to be able to extract this field in a mass export.

How do I do this?

Status changes for issues are recorded in the worklogs. You cannot get this in any form of 'mass export'; the data in each issue's worklog needs to be extracted issue by issue.

As an alternative, you can try Status Time Reports app developed by our team. It mainly provides reports and gadgets based on how much time passed in each status.

Here is the online demo link, you can see it in action and try without installing the app. For your case, you can have a look at Status Count And Entry Dates report.

This app has a dynamic status grouping feature so that you can generate various valuable reports as time in status, time in assignee, status entry dates and status counts, cycle time and lead time, average/sum reports by any field(e.g. average in progress time by project, average cycle time by issue creation month).

You can search issues by Project, Issue Type, Status, Assignee, Issue Creation/Resolution Date(and any other Date field) and JQL Query.
Status durations are calculated according to the working calendar you define. Once you enter your working calendar into the app, it takes your working schedule into account too. That is, "In Progress" time of an issue opened on Friday at 5 PM and closed on Monday at 9 AM, will be a few hours rather than 3 days.
You can set different duration formats.
You can export reports in CSV file format and open them in MS Excel.
You can also add this app as a gadget to your Jira dashboards and reach “Status Time” from Issue Detail page.
You can enable/disable access to Status Time reports&gadgets and Issue Detail page per project, users, groups or project role.

Jira has this data in each issue's history but won't give it away as a ready to use report. You'll need to use a marketplace app for this.

If you are OK with using a marketplace app for this, our team at OBSS built Time in Status for this exact need. It is available for Jira Server, Cloud, and Data Center.

Time in Status mainly allows you to see how much time each issue spent on each status and on each assignee. There are options to consolidate multiple statuses into a column to see metrics like Issue Age, Cycle Time, Lead Time, Resolution Time etc.

The app also has 4 types of date reports that show the first/last transition date to/from a status. (Below is a sample First Transition To Status report.)

Jira doesn't provide a ready-made report about such data, but I can recommend you try Time in Status for Jira Cloud. It is a fast and safe way of getting the date when the issues have entered each of your workflow statuses. The Status Entrance Date report will be definitely helpful in your case. Or you can learn about other reports in the documentation.

If you have a Resolved field that is being populated when tickets are moved to your Done status, you can add that to your columns for export, and you can use it to refine the date range as well, such as Resolved > 2022-1-1 and Resolved <2022-12-31.

Otherwise, if you don't have that field, or it wasn't populated at the time the ticket was closed, you'd have to create a database table that extracts the data from the History of the Jira data or use one of the plugins listed above to pull this information.

I'm not aware of a way to find the date of any other type of status change, other than creating a separate database table for it, or using a plugin. You can query on when something changed from one status to the next, but there isn't a field for it that you could export.
