Similar status to Done has no resolution

Question

Hi,

There are three Major categories (Grey - To Do, Blue - In Progress, Green - Done) and these major categories have multiple statuses. For example In Progress might have statuses Code Review, QA, In Progress, etc. These statuses mean that work is in progress.

In my team we have several statuses that fall under green status umbrella.

Currently we have Done and Won't Do statuses that should mean more or less the same end result.

Done -> Work has been completed.

Won't -> A decision has been made to not invest time in this issue or it was resolved in a different way (e.g. other ticket).

The problems:

* When selecting a green status Won't Do it does not apply resolution like Done. I have tried to find a way but nothing helped that was available in google.
* Backlog view. When issue goes to Done it will ways get crossed out like this AA-1111. Statuses in Won't will not have this. Probably relates to the first problem.
* Managing sprints. So if an issue in Won't Do even if it is under Done status umbrella it does not get resolution. This results that issue is constantly migrating through sprints and I always have to manually remove these issues from sprints.

The problem you have is that during the transition to your "done"statuses (green statuses) the resolution is not set in certain cases. And when reopening the issues from a "done" status to an "in progress" status, the resolution field is not cleared. That's why you get the strikethrough issues on your backlog.

* To overcome this problem:* You should place a post function on your workflow to set a resolution OR
* Add a transition screen to all transitions leading to a "done" status where the user can choose the resolution. Adding a validator so that the resolution field is mandatory, would be also great

* Add a post function from all transition from a done status to a "non done" status where you clear the resolution field.
* If an issue has a resolution it will not get migrated to another sprint

Hi Viktoras,

You need to update the transitions to each of your Done category statues to have a Post Function that sets the Resolution field. That will cause the issue to get crossed out.

For Sprints, only the issues in the very last (far right) column are considered completed. So you need to map all of those Done statuses to that column.

Having said all of that, you might consider having a single Done status and simply updating the Resolution field in the transition to Done depending on the result - Won't Do, Done, Obsolete, etc.
