How to separate analysis time from development time?

In our development proces we have an analysis phase and a development phase.

We want to log the analysis and development time in jira.

But we also want to report on development timespent vs estimates (and ignore the analysis time).

The flow is analysis > estimation > development

We also want to be able on epic level to only report the development time for multiple stories so creating an analysis subtask and a dev subtasks is not ideal because it will be summed up on epic level and it will show analysis + dev time vs estimation so we will always have the impression that we go over our estimations (which might not be the case if we can excluse analysis time).

We were also thinking about logging analysis on the issue or epic itself and development on subtasks but that also is not waterproof in reports.

Any suggestions?

I would suggest to split the issue into an analysis issue and a development issue if you want to track estimations separately. Both are standard issue types under an Epic.

In that situation, each issue type will have their own Original Estimate/Remaining Estimate and Time Spent.

An additional advantage is that you can have separate workflows for analysis and development.
