Assign bug to specific team based on feature ownership

Hello,

Within Jira we have a project containing a custom issue type that represent the features in our application.  I am looking to create an automation that assigns a bug to the correct team based on which feature is selected.

For example, say we have a feature called "login" and its owned by "team 1", I would like that when a bug is created and the feature custom field is set to "login" that it looks up the "login" feature ticket and finds that that feature is assigned to "team 1" and therefor assigns the bug created to "team 1" as well.

Could someone give me some guidance on where I could begin for such an automation?

How do you know which feature issue you should look into? Is there something we can use in the automation to find this issue (for example it has special summary or some custom field is set to some special value etc.)? Thank you.

Sorry to not be specific enough.  Team is a custom field we have added, its a single select list.

Hi @Ben Reinhardt ,

what exactly do you mean by “assign the issue to the team”? In Jira there can be only single user as an assignee. Thank you.
