copying table from excel sheet to jira description is not working

I actually tried to copy and paste table content from excel to Jira description field. It worked without any issues
Go to your project settings --> Fields. Click edit (pencil icon) against the Field configuration and check which rendered is used for Description field. If its a text renderer, change it to Wiki style renderer. Now copy paste table should work.

When it comes to inserting tables into the Description of a Jira issue, then the possibilities are limited.
Why don't you add the Excel sheet as Attachment to your issue?

The table is pasting as plain text not a table format. There are some of the fields i have to edit during review time. Earlier it worked well but pasting plain text is the issue.
