How can I pull a value from Assets using inbound references

Hi there,

I have a Assets field on a form called Categories which pulls a category name from Assets.

I have a referenced object of Queue to Categories so when a category is selected on the form, an automation runs and drops down into the Queues objectType and gets the Name.

object HAVING inboundReferences(objectType = "Categories" AND Key = {{customfield_10082}})

That works fine, but I want to pull out the 'Auto Assign' attribute from Queues also but not sure how to add that to the inbound reference above so it knows to get that attribute to edit the issue with it.

A note about this question, can I actually set the Assignee in this manner from a user field in Assets?

Hello!

If I understood correctly, I believe you have:

• Object Type: Categories
  • Attributes:
    • Name
    • Queue (object)
• Object Type: Queue
  • Attributes:
    • Name
    • Auto Assign (user)
• The issue has an Assets field called Categories (objecttype=Categories)

And you want to use automation to:

• assign the issue to the Issue->Category->Queue->Auto Assign(user)

 

If that's the case, you can use smart values and dot notation to walk the relationships. 

If I guessed your structure right above, then your smart value in the Assign component would be:

{{issue.Categories.Queue.Auto Assign}}
