How to create custom field & issue type in team-manages project using REST API?

Hey, I've been exploring the Jira API recently. I'm trying to create a custom field and issue type on a team-managed project with the REST API. Previously, I have tried to create custom fields, issue type schemes with REST APIs. But when I try to assign an issue type scheme to the project, I get an error "Only classic projects can have issue type schemes assigned".

Hi @alerta , thanks for your question.

It looks like from this - Latest updates for Jira Service Management (atlassian.com), that it should be possible to use the REST API with team-managed projects, but not for all requests.

I don't know if team-managed projects are considered to have an issue type scheme, for example, or if it is just the issue types. As typically schemes are associated with company-managed projects.
