I am creating a template where the user will be updating the status on few items. i want to have a dropdown of each for example.
Priority->H1, H2, H3, H4
or like we have Page status drop down
Hey @Sakina
Can you give me some more information about your use case and the items you want to have drop-downs for? From what you wrote, I think I can offer you a solution utilizing our app Orderly Databases for Confluence for the select lists or dropdowns and keeping all the information in order.
Let me briefly explain to you, what Orderly does. In Orderly, the data is organized and structured in a database and not only on a table on a page. The advantage would be that you're already able to gather all statuses in a single place to report on them and edit them inline.
You can also set up adding an entry to the list in combination with creating pages using a template or specifying default values for fields.
And each dropdown can be created as a separate select list and freely configured:
You would not create an information silo on that page and you don't have only the static table on a page. It's dynamic and stays in sync. 🤘🏼
Additionally, if you want to use the built-in content statuses (or page statuses) of Confluence, you should definitely give Orderly a try. I'm not aware of any other way to easily report on them in Confluence at the moment. They are not supported by the page property report or the Confluence search, which means you have no way to get an overview of statuses quickly. And another upside is that you can easily edit from anywhere without having to open and edit the page.
Being on a specific page, you can then display the data of the (or any) entry:
I'm looking forward to hearing more about your use case! 👍🏽

@Max Foerster - K15t thanks for the suggestion.. but for now i am not looking for any addon..i would like to accomplish my requirements with existing functionalities or macros
Hi @Sakina,
Unfortunately, your requirement can't be met with the native Confluence functionality.
In Handy Macros for Confluence, we have the Handy Status macro. It extends the functionality of the default Status macro. With it, users can:
I've attached a screenshot for your reference. If you're interested in our app functionality, you can start a free trial on the Marketplace or book a demo for a quick walkthrough of its features. The Handy Status macro is just one of many macros (like Handy Cards, Handy Date, Handy Poll, etc.) included in the app, so you can find it reasonable to try Handy Macros.
Kind Regards,
Elena
Hey @Sakina,
I can understand that you want to achieve your goal with built-in functionalities but that's why I put it in perspective and was trying to offer something taking the bigger picture into consideration. Simply because there are no features available that would satisfy your needs - just like @Elena Ovdienko _Stiltsoft_ honestly said too. By the way, Elena, I love the macros! 😄
So, @Sakina, you can't utilize content statuses anywhere else than where you can see and edit them right now - on the page and when editing it.
You also have no configurable dropdowns available. But you can try different approaches using the Status macro or Labels and page properties for reporting. See if that's a workaround you think your team can work with. But it will be always difficult to get any meaningful reporting or overview out of it. The guidance you can provide to the users and the structure you can enforce is very limited with a vanilla Confluence.
