I am new to confluence, I was wondering if it is possible to create a child page for each heading on the parent page automatically using a macro or something
@[deleted]Welcome to the Atlassian Community. And welcome to Confluence!
Can you explain why you would want to do this? What you are describing cannot be done in the order you are looking to, but you can embed a page tree macro in a page and get a list of all pages under a specific parent page or space.
If you can elaborate, perhaps we can give guidance to get you where you want to be?

I think I have the same question as @[deleted].
If you create a page, you can create sub pages. This gives you an hierarchy in the left column.
In stead of child pages, can you create a same hierarchy under the parent page in the left column, for the different headings in a parent page. Like Heading 2, Heading 3.
For example with just Heading 2 and 3' , would look like:
> MyParent page
> Heading 2's
@Floris.vanderZwaard you cannot split a parent page into separate pages in the page tree. What you can do on the parent page is insert the Table of Contents macro which will render a page tree on the page itself that has the tree structure based on the heading styles you are using on the page.
