Add board to my existing Softwareproject and order my backlog by priority.

Hello!

i would like to order my tasks in my backlog by priority (0-100). I already found a helpful instruction and added the field and the filter. Next the instruction tells me to add another board to my existing project. When i do so i can not choose the project as "location", only my own name. So i am creating a new board but it is not in the software project, where i need it. As u can see in the photo, the instructor has a different view and has an arrow (right photo) to change/add boards, i do not have that option (left photo), thats why I also can not change the card.

 

in conclusion, my goal is: i want every Task in my backlog to show a number between 0-100 on the card and to be ranked from 0 (high priority) to 100 (low priority). Tasks should have the number 100 by default and bugs the number 0. Every little advise would be very helpful since i have been stuck for some time

I assume your Jira project is team managed, while the other one is from a company managed project.

A team managed project does not allow you to set up multiple boards. You can either toggle on or off sprints and the backlog features, which essentially makes you influence the behaviour of the one and only board you have in there. In that way, you can (dis)activate scrum and kanban features, but always on the one board. 

Ordering your issues the way you are trying to do is - unfortunately - not feasible either. You either sort your issues (e.g. on priority) by formally adding a sorting clause to the filter of your board or you allow your issues to be ranked. The latter does require you to explicitly apply ORDER BY Rank to that same board filter.

If you sort by any field other than rank, you will not be able to manually reorder the issues in your board. And since many issues will share the same priority, you're bound to run into difficulties there.
