Can I add a "Add Child Issue" in a non-Epic, non-Task issue?

Hi,

I created several hierarchy issues types but cannot figure out how to add in the "Add Child Issue" feature.

I can create an issue and then fill in the "Parent Link" and it shows in the parent as a "child" issue

Below are the options (attach, link) and below that are what I am hoping I can add as opposed to "create", "go to new issue", fill in "parent link"

Are you working with a Team Managed project or a Company Managed project? Are you working with a Software, Business, or Service project?

Did you create the new issue types as Sub-task type issue or Standard type issues (i.e. at the same level as Story, Bug, Task)?

In the Jira Cloud Standard plan the built in issue hierarchy is

Epic > Standard issue types (i.e. Story, Task, Bug) > Sub-task issue types

Sub-task issue types are not intended to support having child issues. If you added your new issue types at that level, they should not have the Add Child Issues option.

If you add your new issue types at the Standard issue types level, those should automatically have the Add Child Issues option.

Jira does not natively support you being able to add issue types at the Epic level, but the hierarchy can be built up with third party apps.

Without more info about what you did to create your issues and what type of project you are working with, I can't provide any additional explanation.

These are above the Epic level (we have the Premium config)

Not quite sure that this means but I created a hierachy
- Level 0, above
- Level 1, above
- Level 2
and am looking to be able to create Level 1 as a child to Level 0 and create Level 2 as a child to Level 1
- Currently, I have to go to the "Level" tickets and add the "Parent Link", which then shows up as a Child in the "Level above"

Ah, I see.

I haven't worked with a Jira Premium subscription before. Based on the documentation, you add the additional levels through the Advanced Roadmaps feature. I'm not seeing info specifically about the Add Child button for those issue levels that you add. The documentation talks about creating/associating child issues to those levels through the Advanced Roadmap UI. I'm not sure that the Add Child button can be added.

I'll have to defer to another more knowledgeable team member.

Alas, there was nothing obvious to get the "Add Child" button but given the ability to create a hierarchy, one would think it would be part of the configuration.

I'll post in the Advanced Roadmap community.
