if you click on the create button in the top of nav bar, do you see epic then? Thinking that your board might have a filter that prevents Epics.

When I click on create button i see that and I create an issue of epic type but it does not appear on the board.

That might be because the Epic is excluded from the board, but never really seen it operate that way before.
What type of project is it? Company-managed? Team-managed? Jira Work Management/Business?
