Sharing a single ticket across two projects/boards

Hi all,

 

I would like to share a single ticket from one project's board (A), to another projects' board (B). 

The project where the ticket currently sits is a company-managed project, and the project where I want to share it with is a team-managed project. They also have different workflows, statuses and columns.

Objective: someone from board B wants to view and add comments to the ticket from board A, without having to duplicate or clone the issue. 

I know how to share the full project, but can't work out how to share a single ticket.

Hi @Marcus Tezcan and welcome to the Community!

A board gets its tickets from a filter that you can find in Board settings > General. It does not "host" any issues. It just displays them based on that filter.

So technically, the only thing you need to do to make a single issue appear on another board, is to include it in the filter of that other board.

If your issue is e.g. PROJECTB-37 and your board displays issues from Project A, all you need to do to get the issue on the board, would be updating the filter to something like this:

Project = "PROJECT A" OR issuekey = PROJECTB-37 ORDER BY Rank ASC

While that is a technical fix, do think through if you really want to do things this way. Before you know it, you'll want to display other issues across those boards and you'll find yourself constantly updating your board filter. Maybe if you can think of a more generic way of setting this up over time, you may come up with a more flexible solution. The key to that will be in defining why it is that you need this single issue in multiple boards.
