Series of subtask completion

Right now, I observed that the completion of subtasks in Jira is in parallel order. Meaning, whichever completes first shouldn't matter.

I have a requirement that heavily relies on series of subtasks that should be completed in a specific order.

Can anyone advise if this is achievable with Jira Cloud please?

It is not a complete implementation, but a rough idea:

1. Use a dedicate link type to represent the "order". For example, if sub-task B must be completed after sub-task A, add a link "depends on" from B to A.
2. Then add a workflow validator, that checks if "B" is outgoing links of the type "depends on" are pointing to an issue that is in "Done" status.

Pro tip: It can be a bit of work to set up the links manually, but maybe you could develop an automation or script that creates/updates the links based on the top-down visual order of the sub-tasks.
