Unable to create Scrum Board as Filter isn't appearing in dropdown list

Hi, we have a number of filters that don't appear in the Filter dropdown section when trying to create a new scrum or kanban board. They're also not visible as an option on existing boards.

Is this a bug, or is there some new setting needed for filters to be visible?

The search might not be finding the filter, or it might not be shared with you. Have you tried finding the filter from Issues -> Search -> Manage filters? If so, and you can find the filter you want, can you try copying and pasting its full name into the saved filter box?

I've tried both options, and have permissions (some of the filters are ones I've created). Typing or copy paste of the full filter name didn't work so was wondering if there was an existing bug or something in this area of the cloud version.

Hmm. It is very much starting to look like a bug.

There is one more test I'd do, as I've run into some weirdness with language settings and odd characters before (but as your postings show names in plain English, I doubt these will show us where the problem is)

Is it possible to rename (or copy to a new name) the filter you are looking for? Try calling it something that people are unlikely to use in another filter name. "Slartibartfast" and "Mr Flibble" are a couple of my favourite SF characters, so there's little chance anyone would use them in a real system...

The stories behind my thoughts here and above were:

The search may be overwhelmed with possible matches, and it's dropping your result out. Changing to something distinctive (like "Mr Flibble") is a test of the search algorithm.
The copy/past of exact name is trying to fetch cases where people have inserted (usually pasted) non-visible characters into the name of the filter.

If it's not the name problem, then I think this one needs to go to Atlassian. Are you on Cloud free or starter (up to 10 users), or Standard or above? (If it's standard or above, you can raise the bug report, if it's under, we can ask Atlassian to take a look here)

I've tried a few combinations and have the same issue, it also won't let me create a Kanban board so it's a common issue.

We're on the Standard subscription with 1500+ users.

I retried the same thing via our Administrators access to confirm it wasn't permissions related, might be a bug then.

There definitely seems to be a bug in the Create Board view - what I did to work around this was to pick any old filter and save it. Then I went back into Board Settings and was able to choose the desired filter in the Details > Board Filter section.

Fwiw, I am the Project Admin (not Jira or Site Admin) for our group, and I created all of the boards and Filters that we use - permissions was not the issue, rather, the dropdown in the Create Board view is faulty, whereas the dropdown in the Board Settings > Details view works just fine.

Also what I found that seems any filter which will be used to create board will need to specify the "jira space" name where tickets resides.

Without this the configuration will show warning or could be error message
