Hi, I added a custom text field "client" which indicates who/what company is the task created for. I want to make this field visible only to the creator of the task or a member of a custom group in JIRA. How Can I do that?

It isn't possible to restrict a field. You can use Issue Security Schemes to restrict at the Issuetype level. If a user has browse permissions then the will be able to see all exposed fields on the screen.
