Individual level capacity planning

Question

"As more organizations plan at the team-level instead of individual, we’ve responded by changing how the Improved interface tracks capacity. The new team capacity management tool (Data Center | Cloud) focuses on how much your team can accomplish during a sprint and less on individual contributors. While this approach doesn’t offer the granular control found in Live plans, it compensates by being much simpler to use."

So, will advanced roadmaps never offer individual-level planning as you did in live plans.. Please let us know if this is in the roadmap. This is an important feature and is not fair to justify saying removing the feature will make planning simpler.

We appreciate having the flexibility to use team or individual-level planning based on the project as we did in Jira portfolio instead of the tool deciding for us.

I appreciate your input.

Caroline Björn · Answer

Team based allocation is the main blocker for me to be able to plan efficiently. I need to be able to plan on the individual level, so as a workaround I will now have to create one team per individual and utilize a custom craft field to get the team's entire workload. Why not support both?

Alex Shirokov · Answer

I assigned my team members to an individual team.

Jonh J Team

Alex B Team

and so on.

It worked well for us

Hi @Sudhir Punukollu
Taking into account your requirements, BigPicture seems to be a good match!

The app strongly supports Resource Management by providing crucial information to plan workload efficiently at a project, portfolio, or PI/Sprint level.

You can display capacity, remaining capacity, and workload both on the Individual and Team level. Moreover, data can be displayed in percentages, man-days, hours, story points, or as a heatmap, which allows precise analysis of the consumption of currently utilized resources and forecast availability.
