Let's get Excel Freaks to use Jira/Confluence!

Hello Community, let's consider encouraging Jira/Confluence to the team that uses Excel frequently.

Even though due to overcoming the limit of a spreadsheet, it is not easy to replace existing Excel jobs with Jira/Confluence.

Maybe, some Excel lovers will resist it
Perhaps, they already have a lot of Excel resources
Excel suits for some works more than Jira/Confluence

So, here's a suggestion.

How about you suggest progressive migration from Excel work to Jira/Confluence?

It is a way to import existing Excel resources naturally as it is into Jira/Confluence.

While using Excel-like spreadsheets, Excel lovers can get used to Jira/Confluence without noticing.

How will these be done?

Not attaching Excel files to the Confluence page, you create and display a spreadsheet directly on the page
- It avoids scattering Excel files and allows you to manage them in one place
You put Excel files that have an existing format(such as estimation document, draft proposal, so on) on Jira and flow on a workflow

Of course, as standard features can only attach them, you need the marketplace apps for that goal.

The following apps can import Excel files correctly as they are.

For Confluence

For Jira

I believe the way is helpful for Solution partners to sell Jira/Confluence for customers that use Excel frequently.

True, Excel users are the ones who are tough to be brought on to Confluence/Jira. But, at company level, they won't spend another dime to user excel/spreadsheet on Confluence/JIRA. As you might know, most of the company is on MS or Google workplace, which comes preloaded with excel.

What would help is if, we can have easy to use spreadsheet like capability on confluence.

Hi!

I want to suggest another Excel-like solution for Confluence. It's the Table Spreadsheet macro from the Table Filter and Charts for Confluence app.

Its look and functions are similar to the ones in Excel. You can create and format your tables, add automatic functions, generate pivot tables and charts. The image below shows how it looks in the edit mode.

But you can also embed the spreadsheet into your Confluence page and keep editing it in the view mode.

An alternative possibility for Confluence users is to use Elements Spreadsheet for Confluence.

The app is very simple to use. You can import your Excel sheets in two clicks. It also integrates seamlessly with Confluence pages.

@Kenichi AbeAgain, it's more convenient to use the googlesheet directly instead of coming to confluence to do the same job.

If at least, we can have sorting and filtering feature on Tables in Confluence, we would be able to bring 60% of project management to confluence and do away with Excels.

I use Google Sheet and an integration app with it, too, and they are handy, aren't they?

However, I think that the tables on the Confluence page have some benefits.

It has the permission control as same as Confluence
It allows putting both a table and the wiki document that describe the table on one page
