Custom board not showing tickets with epics on backlog

Here is my issue

1. There is a team-managed project, with sprints feature disabled

2. I made a filter on it and created a custom scrum board for it.  

project = BI AND (assignee in (123, 124, 125)) ORDER BY Rank ASC

3. Tickets on the scrum board looks fine, but tickets with Epic are not showing on the backlog.  Also, the Epic panel on the backlog is showing unlabelled.  Epics panel and backlog on the main project do not have this issue.

 

Things I have tried and didn't work

- Create a custom field for Epic Name and put in some values

This is another thing that will not display correctly from Team Managed projects in a manually created board, due to those types of boards being designed to work with Company Managed projects.

The Epics Pane shows the "unlabelled" text because it is trying to display data from the "Epic Name" field. Team Managed project Epics don't include that field, so in the pane it is showing "unlabelled-<issueKey>" for those Epics.

The child stories of these Epics don't show in the backlog because in Team Managed projects the child issues track their parent Epic issue key in the "Parent" field. In Team Managed projects that same field is used by Sub-tasks to track their parent issue's issue key. In Company Managed projects, child issues track their parent Epic issue key in the "Epic Link" field. The manually created board is not finding the "Epic Link" field in your Team Managed issues, so it does not recognize those issues as children of an Epic. Instead it sees the data in the "Parent" field in your Team Managed issues. In a Company Managed project that field is used only for Sub-tasks to track their parent issue. So the manually created board sees the children of your Team Managed Epic as "sub-tasks" rather than child issues. And on such boards, sub-tasks are not displayed separately.
