When I click on the Report in JIRA, I see different reports but it's clearly missing EPIC report and SPRINT report. Is this an access issue?
Hi @Jonathan Kim
Are you using Sprints on your board?
Clearly, these reports need either active sprints or closes sprints for data to show
Navigate to the board you are seeing the issues from and then navigate to the reports!!
Thanks,Pramodh
What is shown in your Reports view depends on the type of project and methodology you are using. Please share an image of your software project page including your board. Then also share an image of your reports screen.
FYI
It may be Kanban Project for one reason!!
We do not use sprints.
Is there a way to generate a Time Tracking report based on Epic? We have a bunch of story/task tickets in a project. If we link these story/task tickets to their Epics, will I be able to generate a Time Tracking report categorized by their Epics?
Hi Jonathan ,
Epic Sum Up (our plugin) does this by adding a summary panel that shows the time logg (and many more). From that panel and all other progressbars, you may open a Detail View and send your Issues to the build in Timesheet:
Do you think that helps?
As an alternative solution, to visualize your Epic hierarchies and track sum up at each level, you can try out our add-on Agile Tools.
The app shows time spent summed up at Epic level.
Agile Tools - Epic Tree, Links Tree and Time in Status
Key features of the app are :
1) Links/Portfolio/Advanced Roadmaps Hierarchy :- View/Manage roll up for hierarchy (up to 10 levels), based on your Portfolio/Advanced Roadmaps/Issue Links parent child relationship.
2) Epic Hierarchy :- View/Manage roll up for standard Jira hierarchy. Epic -> User Story -> Subtask
3) Time in Status :- More than 7 types of Time in Status reports to track your issues.
4) Worklogs Report :- Track time spent by resources with multiple filters / category / grouping features
5) Timesheet :- View/Enter your time spent for multiple days
Thanks
Rahul
Epic Hierarchy on Issue Screen as below
@Rahul_RVS it is important to clearly disclose that you have a vested interest when recommending your product.
Rahul,
That also looks great which can show the hierarchies of Epics with their Stories & Tasks.
This is another Plugin tool which seems to have more key features than what Epic Sum Up does. Am I right?
Also, this Agile plugin tool will work with project based Epics (no Scrums/sprints). It seems like it.
Yet another 3rd party app for this task could be Pivot Report for Jira we develop:
Answers to your questions:
1) Price for this plugin can be found on the Marketplace
2) Is any of this our data maintained outside JIRA Cloud? Which vendor supports this plugin?
Vendor name is Colined. No data from issues is stored outside your Jira. Here's our Cloud Security Policy with more details. 3) Do totals roll up to Epic level (from all its stories, subtasks and tasks)? Yes, the report does exactly this. If you need a demo or more information, please let me know here or da@colined.com
Dmitry,
Is it possible to generate reports by time periods (weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly)?
@Jonathan Kim ,
It does depend on what you mean by that. Basically there are two options to report by a time period:1. Create a time related search, e.g. all issues modified within certain date range, like
issuekey IN updatedBy(jsmith, "2018/06/01", "2018/08/31")
Then build the report based on search results. 2. If you use time tracking (Jira default or Tempo), you can create reports based on worklogs for a specific range. Here's an example of a report with worklogs grouped by week:Hope that answers your question. If not, please let me know.
Hi Dmitry,
Your examples #1 & #2 are great. Can these reports show the hierarchy under each Epic (Epic-->Story-->Subtask or Epic-->Task)?
We use project based approach. Under each project, we have epics. Within each epic we have stories & tasks. Stories have subtasks as well.
We have issue created filter, wherein you can search for Epics created between a date range.
I am not sure, if that is what you are looking for ?
Yes, we can define periods for Epics created or updated between a date range.
Can we also capture all stories, tasks and subtasks created/updated (which are linked to Epics) in a hierarchy report?
Hi Rahul,
Also, is this tool used for just reporting or can we use it to enter our times (using JIRA issues) easily like Tempo Timesheet?
