Work logged does not impacts Remaining Time Estimate

Hi Team,

When closing a sub task and loggong a time, it does not impacts the Remaining Time Estimate.

e.g. "2h logged, Remaining Time Estimate changed from 4h to 4h" ; "
1d 4h logged, Remaining Time Estimate changed from 1d 4h to 1d 4h"

Thus, my burndown based on Remaining Time Estimate is not working at all.

May you explain us how to fix this issue please ?

Are you using Jira built in time tracking?

Based on my experiment with native Jira time tracking, what happens depends on where you put your original estimate, what you have specified for Estimation settings for your board, and if you check the option to include sub-task time in the parent issue.

Did you put your original time estimates on the parent issue or the sub-tasks?

What are you Estimation settings for your board?

If the original estimate is on the parent issue, logging time against a sub-task with or without changing the Remaining Time on the sub-task does not reduce the Remaining Time on the parent issue regardless of the setting for Time Tracking in the above options.

With Time Tracking set as shown, logging time will reduce the Remaining Time estimate only for the issue against which the time is being logged. If you log the time against a sub-task, the Remaining Time on the sub-task will be reduced. If your parent issue time tracking option is set to include sub-tasks, then the time estimate on the sub-task will have been added to the time estimate on the parent story, and reducing the Remaining Time on the sub-task will be reflected in the Remaining Time for the parent issue.

Thanks for your answer !

We use Time tracking field to track our time in sub tasks. We only change Original Estimate and Time Tracking in sub tasks. We never use the time tracking or original estimate in parent issue.

In Estimation I selected "Remaining Estimate and Time Spent"

Do you know where that could come from then ?

Can you provide the specific details of what actions you take and what results you observe? I am not seeing the same problem you see, following these steps as a test.
