reporting on time "in progress" for issues

I there a way to get the time an issue is in a certain status (or several statuses in a row)? basically the difference between the timestamps for entering specified statuses of an issue.

example:

Issue-1 is set to "in progress" yesterday 9:00 am

Issue-1 is then set to "done" today 10:00 am

results in 25 hours.

and ideally of course the average time for all issues in a filter...

Hi,

As far as I know, there is no easy answer to this.
I've worked with an addon such as 'Time in status'.

Alternatively you could fetch your Jira issue history data into a reporting tool such as PowerBI and create the report based on that data yourself.

What I've also done is create a custom field 'Date in progress' which stores the date-time that an issue has been moved to In Progress. This works with two post functions. One on the In Progress transition that populates the field. And one on the transition back from In progress to [whatever status you have before] which clears the field again.

Time in status for Jira Cloud should help you with this request. It shows data about time issue was in each status and generate a report about the average time in each status.

Unfortunately, what you are looking for is not possible with the built-in functionalities of JQL. Because JQL can not make calculations and you need status time calculations.

For this exact need we developed Status Time Jira app. It provides reports on how much time passed in each status. By grouping statuses you can get resolution time(E.g from new status to done status). You can also export the report as CSV and open it in excel.

Once you enter your working calendar into the app, it takes your working schedule into account too. That is, "In Progress" time of an issue opened on Friday at 5 PM and closed on Monday at 9 AM, will be a few hours rather than 3 days. It has various other reports like assignee time, status entry dates, average/sum reports by any field(eg. average in progress time by project, average cycle time by issue creation month). And all these are available as gadgets on the dashboard too. Here is the online demo link, you can see it in action and try without installing the app.

thanks for pointing out your solution. however, the free version is not usable for my question as it can only sum/avg. up to 10 issues. (so "limited" seems to me a little misleading for that kind of demo product)
