Automation transition to specific column

Hey! Certain items are automatically created and upon creation receives a certain label. We would like this newly created items with this label to transition to a specific column on the Kannan board. Other tickets should follow the workflow we designed.

Is there a way to automate this? Or a work around?

I have tried two rules for automation: when issue is created, if it has the label X, move to status Y. But it's not moved there, it stays in the backlog.

Hi @Sara de Hond and welcome to the community!

It seems that you are on the right track! You can do that with automation, as you tried to do. You have to to pay attention to the following things:

Do a transition between backlog and status Y exists? If not, then this is no wonder why the ticket can't transition.
Does this status you are trying to move the issue to, belongs to the issue's workflow?
Finally, check the audit log of the rule to see the error you get.

Hi Alex, thank you for the welcome and for you help!

The workflow as it is now goes first to "To do" for all the normal moves from backlog to board. We would like to make that continue for normal items but for certain ones go to another status.

Do I have to add an additional workflow to accommodate this? (I read about it being possible to create multiple workflows but I find no button for it (on cloud).)

We have one status lane made for this ticket, and it's also in the workflow. Not sure what "belong to the issue's workflow" means.

@Alex Koxaras -Relational- I am also thinking maybe I can trigger an automation to the other status when it's moved to "To do".

When: Issue is moved to "To do" (from backlog)

If it has a certain label -

Then move it to status X.

From an issue you have, click the transition button and then "view workflow".
