Sharing sprints between boards in backlog

I have created a project, with multiple boards.

I want to share the same sprints across all boards.

I understand from the documentation that if I manually assign a specific issue to a sprint, the spring will appear in whatever board this issue is relevant.

That's nice but ... when a sprint is created, it has no issues yet. Users will go to the backlog and start dragging issues to sprints. They'll see the new sprint was not created yet, so they will create one -- not knowing that someone else already created it from another board.

This will lead to duplicate sprints, lots of confusion ...

Sprint is board property. So you cannot share Sprint across multiple boards.

Its better you name the Board as a Sprint Board in order to avoid confusion & duplicates

Well we don't have a single "sprint" board. We have several teams working on the same project. Each team has its own board and manage them the way they want.
But the entire company follows the same sprint structure.

So if Team A in Board A creates "Sprint 1", then Team B in Board B also creates "Sprint 1", what happens?

If the boards are configured to look at overlapping sets of issues, then the boards will start to display sprints from other boards when they contain issues that the board selects for.

The only thing you can do about "people creating a sprint that already exists" is get them to check before they do it.

So assuming they know that the sprint has already been created, what should they do when starting their planning?

The sprint won't appear in the backlog.

Should they manually select an issue, and assign it to the sprint via its field? Then it will appear in the backlog?

Correct, you need to prevent users from arbitrarily creating sprints (lock down the "Manage Sprints" permission). If you want teams to share metrics based on the same sprint, you need to get all teams to use the same sprint object (check its id, since multiple sprints can share the same name). Sprints are not board property; they transcend boards and projects and should be used as such.
