How we can create subprojects in jira, for example with a hierarichal format

soheila sarabandi

If I want to explain more about what I want, I want to create some projects such as below example:

Project B & Project C be Sub Project for Project A

Project D & Project E be Sub Project for Project B

I want to create this format in jira

Would you please suggest me what I have to do

It’s a suggestion from my end,

project A —— jira default project

Project B, Project C —— components in Project A

project D, Project E —— Epics tagged with Components.

create a project A

create a cascading field in jira with two levels and use it within your project.

thanks.

Jira does not have a project hierarchy, there are no sub-projects.

Some consider project components to be sub-projects, but they all work within a single project, so I'd not think of them that way.

What are you hoping to achieve from "sub-projects"?

By writing JQL queries you can get issues based on Project / components / stories for reporting / tracking.

Under D,E epics , you can create stories and give estimates to stories. Once you have estimates enabled. These can helpful in getting Sprint reports like Burndown, velocity and etc,

are you looking for the same kind of KPI’s ??

How can i have or create project components and then consider them to be like sub-projects

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

A component is an attribute you put on an issue to say "this issue belongs to this part of the project".

To create them, your project admins go into the settings and components, and define the list of components available. Your people will then be able to flag issues with components from the list.

Welcome!
