Enabler Epic ticket types to behave like an Epic at Epic level

I have created a new ticket type called Enabler Epic.  I want it to behave like an Epic. I went into the advanced roadmaps hierarchy levels and added it to the Epic level and it is behaving as I expected. 

However, it is not behaving like an Epic level anywhere else.

In the Backlog it is showing as a story level and lower. 

I have checked out the backlog settings thinking it might be some setting there.  I figure I need to set it up somewhere that isn't just for the roadmap but unsure where, can anyone help?  I checked out the  hyperlink on the Advanced roadmaps hierarchy screeen which states "how to expose these levels in jira" but nothing really obvious to help.

You can use a label or a custom field to specific if an Epic is Enabler or not.

• You will be able to report using that field.
• You can create a separate swimlane based on that field (using JQL). So the enabler epic can be displayed separately.
• In your advanced roadmap plan as well you can use that custom field to create a view for those epics.

Only Epic issue type will behave like an epic on boards and other places so creating a field is the simplest thing you can do.
