Done Status is not available in the status drop down for one user

qusai.bonie

Hi,

I have a custom workflow for all issues except initiatives and bugs.

The workflow works as expected for all users except one. The user can move a story from functional review to Done in the sprint board but can't do it from the status drop down in the story details form.

I doubled checked the user's permissions. It matches everyone else in the team.

Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks

Hi Qusai,

Check for any conditions on the transition to Done in the workflow for that project.

Hi @qusai.bonie ,

Please check any conditions on the transition to Done in the workflow is configured for that project and if the condition is configured probably the user is not added in that condition or in group.

Make sure you have added user to transition issue to done status if the condition is configured.

Please accept answer it work for you.

Thanks,

Thank you for your response, Mayur.

I don't have any conditions in the workflow and the user has access to transition issue. Any other potential configuration that I should check?

Hi @qusai.bonie

The "Transition Issues" permission is not granted to the user. This permission allows a user to transition (change) the status of an issue.

Follow the steps below to configure the users groups or project roles that will have this "Transition Issues" permission.

Go to the Project Administration page for the project you wish to configure this;

Click Permissions on the sidebar;

(info)Another option is to configure a scheme directly so that it can be applied to more than one project. For that, go to Administration > Issues > Permission Schemes.

On the top-right corner, open the Actions drop-down menu and click Edit Permissions;

Locate the Transition Issues permission (the last under the Issue Permissions section);

Now, you can add the user to that permission.

Alternatively, you can also use the Jira Admin Permission Helper by selecting User that not able to Transition the Issue and selecting the Transition Issues permission , the fix the problem from there.

Thanks,

Mayur

@qusai.bonie issue resolved?

Rares Finatan

Replying to this several years later, but I have just run into the same problem. The fix on my side was to go to Project Settings > Workflows > Edit > Disable 'Allow all statuses to transition to this one' for DONE > Publish the draft.

The idea is that you force the workflow to update with an error:

There are no incoming transitions to this status.

Once it is published with the error (and is essentially 'hidden' for users given that it is unable to be accessed by any transition), go to Project Settings > Workflows > Edit > Enable 'Allow all statuses to transition to this one' for DONE > Publish the draft.

This fixed it for one user who had not seen the updated workflow propagate to their instance of Jira for some reason. Hope that helps.

Genius! This fixed my issue. Don't know what happened but suddenly I couldn't access half of my workflow statuses.

Welcome!
