Smart Values, Comments and Automation

Hello!

Looking into how to and what smart values work with the issue.comment or any other smart value related to comments.

Basically I want to capture part of a comment (not all of it) that is always the same, and reply with it.

I tried using something like "{{issue.comments.substringAfterLast("tracking #")}} but this returns nothing. And I cant find anything else even related or that works.

Any tips or ideas?!

How are you triggering the automation?

If you log {{issue.comments}} do you get anything there?

It does feel like looking for things n the dark with smart values sometimes.

Yes when I use the basic value or a few of the ones listed it works, but the "text fields" say you should be able to add it to any value right? Or not, it doesnt specify which fields it works with.

For instance if I wanted to grab it from the summary it looks like that would work right away.

I am not sure, that comments are strings. I think they are some form of list.
