I want to retrieve a report like the Control Chart via REST API (Jira Cloud) to mainly see the average time spent in several statuses on a specific period. It should be based on the project and not on boards (we have several boards per project). The idea is to automatically put this data on a Google Sheet to manage it in different ways.Is this possible?Any help here?
Hello @Pablo Bernardo
Jira does not give this information out-of-the-box but I think I got the perfect thing for you. Our team at OBSS built Time in Status app for this exact need. It is available for Jira Server, Cloud, and Data Center.
Time in Status allows you to see how much time each issue spent on each status or assigned to each assignee. You can combine statuses into consolidated columns to see metrics like Ticket Age, Cycle Time, or Lead Time. You can calculate averages and sums of those durations grouped by the issue fields you select.
What's better, you can get all this report data on-screen or using the new REST endpoints introduced by Time in Status.
Even better, we have some sample Google Sheets and Excel templates that already contain the scripts needed to pull data from REST endpoints into spreadsheets. You just set the parameters and get your data into the spreadsheet with a single click:

The app calculates its reports using already existing Jira issue histories so when you install the app, you don't need to add anything to your issue workflows and you can get reports on your past issues as well.
Using Time in Status you can:

Hi @Pablo Bernardo
You note having multiple boards per project, and that would seem to indicate having multiple teams per project. Is that correct?
And...the REST API can already access history data for issues. You note wanting to pull this information into an external spreadsheet for processing, meaning you need the ability to parse the JSON by issue. Have you considered performing the time calculations directly in that spreadsheet with the history data?
Thanks, and best regards,Bill
Hi @Bill Sheboy !I see your point but for us it is currently important to have that metric for the global measure we are trying to improve.About the API, yes, I have considered doing all the calculations, but in case I see this as the only option, I'd probably for other metrics or ways to address those issues.
Thanks, @Emre Toptancı _OBSS_ , I will check this one.
Hi, you may try this script https://github.com/WuerthPhoenix/Atlassian-Extension-Scripts/tree/main/jira-worklog-report-csv that export all work log into csv line by line .
Something similar can be done for on-status time calculation
cheers
Another solution you can check is Time in Status for Jira Cloud. It's a top-rated time monitoring app developed by my team.
Using it, you can get an Average time report spent in several statuses on a specific period.
You can export the data for further detailed analysis.
Hope it helps.

Hi @Pablo Bernardo ,
For this exact need we developed Status Time app. It provides reports on how much time passed in each status, status entry dates and status count.
Once you enter your working calendar into the app, it takes your working schedule into account too. That is, "In Progress" time of an issue opened on Friday at 5 PM and closed on Monday at 9 AM, will be a few hours rather than 3 days. It has various other reports like assignee time, status entry dates, average/sum reports by any field(eg. average in progress time by project, average cycle time by issue creation month). And all these are available as gadgets on the dashboard too. Here is the online demo link, you can see it in action and try without installing the app.
If you are looking for a free solution, you can try the limited version Status Time Free. Hope it helps.
