Create issue via Slack - Why isn't the parent appearing?

We really want to use the feature to create a JIRA issue from a message in slack. We have successfully connected the project to the channel but for some reason the Parent epics from the project are not appearing. Do you know how to fix this?

Everything else is working fine but we can’t utilise this awesome feature unless we can select the parent.

Hi @Sophia Denham , welcome to the Community!

I'm familiar with the problem you mention with trying to get a Parent epic linked on issue creation. We've just identified this as a bug that affects Team Managed projects (company managed projects are unaffected). You can track progress on this on our public Jira instance as API-443 . In the meantime, I would suggest this as a workaround:

 

1. Create the issue you want from the Slack message, but leave the Parent field blank (obviously it will be blank, as you cannot get any results in the dropdown currently)
2. When the Jira Cloud app replies as a threaded message with the new issue's information, click the link to open the issue in Jira
3. Use the Add Parent action on the issue to add it to the correct epic
   

Sorry for the inconvenience here - luckily the workaround is fairly short while our product team takes a look at this issue with Task issue creations for Team Managed projects in Slack.
