Bulk Overwrite or Delete of Sub-Tasks across multiple Stories

Is there anyway to do a mass (i.e. over multiple defined stories) overwrite/delete/creation of sub-tasks using the import functionality?

We are changing the way that we structure our standard project stories and need to enforce a revised standard sub-task set for all stories in the project.

These have previously been created in a piecemeal and uncoordinated manner by the users and we now want to overwrite/delete the existing sub-tasks and then apply this new standardized set of sub-tasks per story.

Has anyone any experience in this type of change and can provide advice and lessons learned?

Yes, this is possible to do for JIRA Administrators.

If you want to change the data in an existing issue, you need to include in the import data the issue's ID - i.e. ABC-123. Then in the field mapping step, map that field/column to Issue Fields > Issue Key.

If you want to add a new sub-task to an existing story, then you have to include as one of your fields/columns the Parent field and in it specify the issue ID for the parent story. Then in the field mapping step, map that field/column to Parent ID.
