Jira Work Management - Subtasks on Calendar

Hello,

I recently started using Jira Work Management. I noticed that tasks will show up on the calendar but subtasks under that task only show up in the list and timeline, not the calendar or kanban board. Is there a way to ensure subtasks show up in the calendar or do you have to create them as tasks in order for them to be included?
