Require Epic Selection when Creating New Issue

    I'm using a Next-Gen project with Road Maps, Backlogs, and Sprints enabled.

Is there a way to require the user to select an Epic when creating a new issue?

And if so, is there a way to only require issues of a specific type to require an Epic selection?

(ie, want to require an Epic selection when creating new Stories and Tasks, but at the same time, I want to allow Bugs to be created without an Epic selected)

As far as I know, there is currently no way to require an epic to be selected when creating an new issue in a team managed (next-gen) project. The ability to select an epic upon issue creation is not available and listed as a feature suggestion in the backlog: JSWCLOUD-18131.

You can watch / vote for it to stay informed of progress in that area.

In company managed projects (classic) you could set up this functionality with a workflow validator. That would be a validator on the create transition of your workflow, that would set Epic Link as a required field. Since each issue type can have its own workflow in a project, that setup allows you to make the selection of Epics required for tasks and stories, but not for bugs - just by making sure those issue types get their own workflow.
