How to reduce line spacing in Jira?

Question

Jira (cloud) defaults in issue descriptions and comments to what is nearly double-spacing. This takes up a lot of screen real estate, slows reading, and unnecessary scrolling. How can this default paragraph spacing be reduced? I know you can hit , but that's not really a solution.

In July 2023 this is still an issue.

Vote to get it fixed here in the Jira list of things users would like fixed:

The control + Enter workaround has an effect but still does not narrow the line spacing much.

It is also clunky, needs to be done on every line.

Agree, this spacin & padding is anoying thing. It supposed to be productivity product and not beauty contest. What I do to is to copy and paste plaint text to JIRA.   Format your text in Notepad or Notepad++ etc and then paste it to JIRA.  It works most of the time and you won't have spacing between lines.

Atlassian knows better and you are just going to have to learn to live with it and keep paying the bill because you are locked in.  This is the answer.
