Apply another workflow for a single issue type without affecting other issue type

Question

I have a workflow scheme currently in place for the kanban board.

Current scheme has issue type - story, epic,bug,task

I have created another scheme, New scheme has custom issue type - request.

When I try to apply new scheme, keeping the old one as well, all issue types of the current issue are getting changed  to 'request'.

After applying the scheme, issue type of existing issues should not change and such issues should follow the workflow defined in the older workflow. And when the new issue with the type ' Request' gets created it should follow the new workflow.

Hi @Meghana ,

if you're about to add the new type 'Request' to your project, you'll have to add it to your issue type scheme, that's correct. However, if you remove issue types from that screen, you'll definitely have to migrate issues with removed issue types to ones still available. Changes here aren't only related to future or newly created issues but all issues in that project.

Sorry to hear you're having trouble configuring your workflows/issue types. If the Issue Type Scheme and Workflow scheme you want to update are not shared, this should be a simple enough process!

Let's start with the issue type scheme. The easiest way to modify the issue type scheme is to navigate to Project settings > Issue types > Actions  Edit issue types.

Just drag the Request issue type into your list and save. This should add the issue type to your project without impacting the existing issues.

Workflow Scheme:

Again, the easiest way to do this is to modify the existing one rather than creating a new scheme and applying it. Head to Project settings > Workflows > Add Workflow > Add existing.

Pick the workflow you made for the request workflow and then click Next. Check the box to your Request issue type and click on Finish. After that, you can publish your draft.
