We are merging 2 Jira instances, one is already on cloud and the other is on server. The server instance is by Company B and uses Company B's email domain. Company A has it's own email domain. All users in Company B have both a Company B and a Company A email domain, but all their Jira data is linked to Company B's email domain.
Company A and Company B are merging. Company A uses Okta and requires this for all users.
I want to make sure that we are doing the process correctly, this is the process I'm thinking makes the most sense:
- In the migration assistant tool, migrate the users and groups first, and make sure you can log into the test cloud instance using your new credentials (you will have to create a new cloud password)
- Migrate the projects
- Look through the data to make sure the user mapping is correct
- Afterwards the users can update their email address to the new email address in their own cloud account information
- This should get picked up by Company A's AD and allow the Okta integration
