Jira Cloud Migration Assisant error with numerical site ip and http? Need https and named ip?

Made another try to migrate old (7.6.x) local Jira server installation to cloud. Got help to NAT my pc so I can access it on internet like http://197.1.2.3:8080, everything looks normal there. But when I try to "Migrate t cloud" using Jira Cloud Migration Assistant I still get the error "Base URL did not validate".

I tried to change the base url in my Jira to this external adress, but still same error.

Can it be that I uses numerical ip of the Jira access? Or hpps instead of https?

Nic, sorry to bother you with more replies; I think I have everything set up for Jira Cloud Migration Assistant, but it won't connect to my local Jira that is accessisble on internet in the form http://1.2.4.5:8080 as descibed above. I feel I am so close migrate the whole site... Just one final step.

I looks like the migration web page does not try to connect, I get the error immediately, like "error- your email adress is malformed".

You cannot use the numeric IP because that's only available inside your network, behind your NAT as far as the internet is concerned. The migration assistant needs to be able to read it.

You'll need to do some proxying and port-forwarding, based on the external ip address of your network.

My ip is on the internet, I can easily access my local Jira with http://1.2.3.4:8080

So how are you exposing your local Jira to the internet? What port forwarding or proxying have you set up?

Got hep from our internet provider, they mentioned NAT. Not sure about details, but some general kind of port forwarding from <internet-ip:8080> to <local-ip:8080>.

The Jira site works fine from home on the public ip.

I can ask for details if that is needed.

ISP says is straight forward NAT with <internet-ip:8080> to <local-ip>.
What about port 8005, or other ports...?

A malformed email has nothing to do with the location of your site.

To rule out the problem you originally reported, can you go somewhere outside your home or office and try connecting to the Jira with a browser? If you're at home or at a smaller business, it's likely that you don't have a static IP, and you've not said how you are dealing with that.

On the malformed email address, where are you getting that message?

I could migrate now, I set up a temporary name in our dns, so I could use a domain like http://temp.our.site.net:8080, and now the migration tool works!

Next issue is that although I have some projects migrated, and can list some issues, I can not see them in any kanban list, move them, change status or anything. Is there a good guide how to take ownership and make these old projects useable? At least so I can move issues to new projects?

(Sorry for email question, I just made a comparison with other web sites that check validity of input, like email, I though the check of old site was so fast)
