I need to make a field mandatory or filled in by the epic where it is linked to. How can I do this in next gen?

In Jira Cloud, you cannot make a field mandatory based on the value of another field or linkage. You could make it mandatory as you transition an issue from one status to another using a third party add-on such as JMWE or ScriptRunner.
