I am setting up notifications via Jira automation for a team with multiple projects. I’ve come across some minor obstacles that I may be over thinking. Is it possible to set up a Jira Automation rule the triggers on a set day and time and notify users of all open issues?
Goal:
If a Jira issue is not marked complete by Xday at 3pm – a notification is sent to the assignee.
Steps:
- Trigger: Rule will be triggered by a scheduled step on Xday @ 3PM.
- Condition: If Y issue type status is “In progress”
- Action: Send notification email to all Assignees with open tickets.
- Output: Email will be sent to each assignee that meets the above conditions notifying them and identifying the open ticket(s).
- Extra credit: The body of the email notification will list all open Y issue types assigned to the assignee.
Manual tests have proven successful, yet the cron expression added to the schedule trigger is not. Additionally, it seems tests with multiple users are producing some interesting results in which all users are not being notified.
Please let me know if you have any questions and thank you in advance for your assistance.
Attached is a screenshot of how my automation rule is set up:
