How do I attach and display an image in the system dashboard?

I wanted to update the Jira dashboard gadget that has the beginner tutorial info. in it. When I added my new information to it, the image that was there has disappeared. I was able to recover all of the original text and add my new information but I can't figure out how to add that image back. I found how-to information that applies to Confluence but nothing that helps with the dashboard.

Since the dashboard uses wiki markup, you will need point to the image URL using the markup language on cloud.

In my example, i am pointing to publicly accessible location (SharePoint site) that stores some generic JIRA images

@Julian Governalethis is the example code I referred to. So, I have no idea where the image that was there comes from so I can't point to it. You also reference the attached image example but I don't have any idea how to attach an image.

So here we are using wiki markup. It has the image icon we could use to attach the image I want which is this one that I captured before changing the dashboard. But the dashboard wiki markup doesn't have that available. This is one of those weird Atlassian inconsistencies.

It seems that unless you have a cloud repository to store the images you want to use then it isn't possible.

Oh yeah, i agree its crazy i had to find a public location to store my images but i doubt that is the best practice. We had this location previously set up so it was easy for me to store my stuff there as sharepoint makes it super easy to add files directly in there via file explorer.

I just tested storing my images on confluence and referencing them in my Dashboard and that seems to be working.

If you have a confluence site (might need to use a n application link to connect JIRA and Confluence) then it looks like you can host the image in Confluence and reference them in your dashboard.

I have only tested this with my account (site-admin), so you'll want to validate that all users, even ones without confluence access can see the image on the system dashboard.

Steps i took to make this work.

Added a few images to a page in confluence (i used a space all users can access - not positive is that matters but an FYI)
Publish the page
Click on the (...) in the upper right corner of the page and click "Attachments"
Find the image you are looking for and Copy the image URL (right click the image file name and copy link address)
Back in JIRA use Wiki mark up !<URL to image in confluence>! to add the image into your dashboard

You can resize the image if you need to by adding width & height into the wiki markup

@Julian GovernaleDOH! That's a brilliant idea. I never even thought about using Confluence to hold the images. I did think about using our SharePoint system as well after I posted my reply. I'll give that a go.
