I noticed that Confluence cloud different from Confluence server has been optimized to support display with very low resolution. 600 pixels width I think.
Is there a way to utilize the extra pixels on larger screens when using Confluence cloud?

If you are talking about page width, you can select between two options. A narrow one and a wider one.
Here is what it looks like:
When you do this, both the editor and published views of the page will be wider.
