I have set up a workflow * attached a workflow scheme * created a Generic Event * added that Event to the default notification scheme * set the notification scheme to send email tp a Single Email Address * then added a Post Function on a transition to fire the event I still do not receive and email when the task is moved from one column to the next with the transition that fires the post function. Any direction or how to video would be a huge help. Thank you

Trying to get transition to fire post function to send email to a personal email.

Notifications will be sent only for public issues. Public issues are issues which have a Permission scheme that gives the 'Browse Projects' permission to 'Anyone'(any non-logged-in users).

is this the case for you? Is your Jira as well as the issue of interest public / open for anonymous access? If not, sending emails to non-Jira users isn't possible by default.

These are private issues. I even tried to send a email notification to myself using the field where you search for the user. I still did not get a notification. Not sure where I am going wrong.

Is their any way to send an email to an outside source with out the project being public?

Hi Brent - you might try using Automation For Jira to send the email I know it can send to any email address.

I created an Automation rule for when a transition happens to send an email. It seemed easy but the email is not being sent. Here is a screen shot of what I did wrong. Thank you for the help.

What does the Audit log say? Can you share a screenshot of when you did the test?

Also, you have the full email listed?

Take a look at Notification Assistant for Jira. It's based on Issue Events and JQL, so if you can write the JQL to segment for the transition you want, you will be able to send emails.
