Time Tracking Report - Time elapsed between 'In Progress" and "Done" state

Hi,

Is it possible to do a report or query to find out the time elapsed between an issue's "In Progress" and "Done" state?

I'm aware there is a time tracking feature, but if it is possible to track the time without user intervention that would be ideal.

Im assuming there is no way to account for non-working hours/days in the calculation of the time elapsed.

Any info is appreciated.s

The report you are looking for is not built-in inside Jira. Our team at Bloompeak developed Status Time app for the exact need. It takes your working schedule into account too. That is, "In Progress" time of an issue opened on Friday at 5 PM and closed on Monday at 9 AM, will be a few hours rather than 3 days.

@Luis Zuniga, another alternative might be to use Jira Rest api. The data is available in Jira Rest API. It provides the exact status transition date and time for each issue. It returns json as below, then you need to extract and calculate for each issue.

Try Time between Statuses add-on, which generates a report about the time elapsed between statuses (for example, "In Progress" and "Done" statuses)

I'm aware there is a time tracking feature, but if it is possible to track the time without user intervention that would be ideal. Everything is shown on the Issue View Panel and you can also export data as XLSX or CSV files.

For a ready built solution that offers great fexibility and details, our team at OBSS built Time in Status app for this exact need. It is available for Jira Server, Cloud and Data Center.

Time in Status allows you to see how much time each issue spent on each status or assigned to each assignee as well as entry/exit dates for all statuses. You can calculate averages and sums of those durations grouped by issue fields you select. (For example see the average InProgress time per project and per issuetype). You can also combine statuses into consolidated columns to see metrics like Ticket Age, Cycle Time or Lead Time.

Thanks to all for the links to add-ons. Trying to avoid pay-per-use type solutions as we have a large number of users and realistically only 1 or 2 people would end up using any time-elapsed reporting product. hard to justify the expense since I would be paying for all users.

I'm trying an automation that writes an entity to the issue with a timestamp {{now}}.

Hoping to extract the issue and these timestamps either through API or excel export and manually calculate time elapsed.
