How do I move issues to the backlog?

Aim: I want the ability to move issues to the backlog when I create them.

My proposed solution: to add a "backlog" transition from "to-do" to itself.

Problem: when trying to add this transition, I receive the error message: "You cannot perform this operation on a draft workflow." 

Please can you advise.

I’m not sure why you need this transition. Normally if To Do is mapped to backlog then new issue will appear in backlog.

with that said, you need to make a copy of the workflow then edit this copy and finally associate the workflow to the issuetypes in your projects. If you need more details on this LMK
