Concurrent editing and merging changes for Microsoft Excel

Concurrent editing and merging changes.

If we use Microsoft EXCEL as the editor via the Atlassian companion app.  Is concurrent editing and change merging possible.  It appears that using the Microsoft excel editor takes you temporarily out of Confluence making it not possible for Confluence to manage concurrent editing properly.  Is this correct?

That’s correct.

Maybe you can get rid of Excel by embedding you tables directly in Confluence. There are some spreadsheets plugins in the marketplace. 
Sometimes it’s hard to find the right tool for the job and I know how people tend to stick to excel as it seems to be their only qualification.
