How to make Fix Version required but not affected other projects

Under Issues > Field Configurations

I need to make Fix Version a mandatory field under my project however the 'Fix Version' field is shared with multiple 'Screens' for various projects.  If I click 'Required' under the Action section, it will affect all projects who are using those listed screens.  Which is not what I intend to do.  Can anyone help?

You can create new field configuration specific to this project and make the field mandatory.
