Need Advice on using roles or groups for restrictions in workflows

Hello All!!

I have this situation:

We have some workflows that we are adjusting to be used in several projects, and we want to restrict the transition to some status to a group or role but I can't realize what to use.

1. in a project we want to restrict to deveolpers to transition statuses from new- in progress- resolved, and from resolved to closed we want to restrict to QA Team

2. we have in this workflow the need to allow to developers  from some project to be able to transition to all status from new to close.

What do you recommend to do?

Create groups and add members according to the specific restrictions. Edit the workflow, assuming you are using Classic project and not NG, and set a condition on each transition that restricts the ability to execute the transition based on being a member of the group.

Hi,

Your workflow needs to have conditional transition restrictions based on roles in your project's workflow.

"your project developers group"  or "Visiting developers group" can move issue forward from new, in progress, resolved.

Then transitions moving back in the workflow are authorized only by "Members of the QA Team."  You already had the answer.
